How much longer will a metal roof last than common roofing like asphalt or wood shingle?

A. You can expect a metal roof to last at least 2 to 3 times longer than an asphalt or wood shingle roof. To put it in context, the average life span of an asphalt roof is 12 to 20 years in Indiana. Made of oil impregnated paper or fiberglass, asphalt begins to deteriorate as soon as you expose it to normal weather. A metal roof, however, will last approximately 70+ years. Other roofing materials like wood shingle, shake and tile have varying degrees of weather-related problems that lead to breakdown. These are all well outlasted by metal roofing, which retains its good looks and durability decade after decade.

Is a metal roof environmentally responsible?

Yes, not only is metal roofing great for your home, it's great for the environment. Metal Roofing is 100% recyclable. According to the National Association of Homebuilders Research Center, 20 billion pounds of asphalt shingles are dumped into U.S. landfills every year.

Is it noisy?

The most popular misconception about metal roofing is how they can be extremely loud when it rains. This is a complete myth and in fact, they silence any noise created from the elements such as rain, hail, sleet etc. If insulated correctly with the addition of special sound deadening underlays, they can actually be a lot quieter than other roofs such as an asphalt shingle roof

Can metal roofing be installed over my old roof?

Yes! Metal roofing weighs less than 1.6 pounds per square foot, depending on the gauge. It will not normally over load existing roofs. Metal roofing can usually be installed right over asphalt. The existing roof in some cases also serves as an increased level of insulation.

Does metal attract lightning?

Lightning is attracted to the highest point, not necessarily metal. A metal roof has no greater chance of being hit by lightning than any other type of roof. However, if your roof would be struck by lightning, a metal roof can help prevent your home from catching on fire because it can dissipate the electrical charge. More importantly, it is noncombustible.

How long do your screws hold up on your exposed fastener roof?

Our screws on our “exposed” fastener style roof are designed to last an average of 25-30 years, the rubber washers will begin to deteriorate and we recommend them getting replaced by a professional. 

How long does it take to install?

Our industry is very weather dependent. We cannot roof in rain, a chance of rain, snow, sleet, hail etc. We also cannot roof in high winds or temperatures below freezing. In order to install a good roof that will last and work, the weather has to be right. Therefore once a job is under contract we schedule a tentative date to complete the job. Then we monitor the weather and usually within a few days or a week we can verify that we will start on a certain day. We pride ourselves in our ability to offer fast quality work, but we also know that when a company offers a “quick installation” it may not always be the best installation. Our average project is done within 2 days give or take a day. We only offer metal roofing, we are also out here doing this every single day and that is why our installs on average take less time than a contractor offering a variety of roofing options. 

When it comes to service, do you extend any unique customer service to your clients?   

We offer all of our clients our cell phone numbers so they can contact a company owner directly at any time whether its a text or a phone call, we will always answer the phone or get back to our customers the same day. Usually as soon as we are free.  

Will metal roofing reduce my home insurance cost?

In some cases, having a metal roof on your home will reduce your insurance cost. You will need to contact your insurance provider to follow up on any potential cost savings that may be available to you.

Do you have any special training to your people that may result to good service and etc.? 

Our crews are manufacturer certified applicators. This allows our crew to install commercial roofing according to exact specifications. This is the key to the outstanding longevity of our roof systems.
